Works great for putting VHS tapes to digital. Works great! I have a VCR with RCA cables hooked to a converter box, that has an HDMI cable that plugs to this, that plugs into the UBS port of my computer. I am copying the old VHS tapes to digital now. I previously bought a thing to convert things over, but the quality was less, and it switched from color to black and white for no reason. This doesn't have that problems.

Used to Capture VHS video! I had bought this to connect to an RCA to HDMI adapter and this capture card was then plugged into my computer. From there, I used it to capture some of my VHS homemade tapes and movies I had. VHS tapes tend to deteriorate over time and I wanted to preserve my precious memories digitally. I was able to successfully do so using this capture card! 10/10 recommend if you plan to use this capture card the same way I did.

Okay, but I'm probably buying a CamLink 4k instead It is okay for the price, but it also shows scanlines almost constantly. To be clear, this is a 1080p device that happens to be able to receive at 4k but it will downscale.

Good CamLink alternative for 1080p and at a great price Usually I try to go for the brands I recognize when selecting electronics, this is one you can take a chance on.It does exactly what it says out of the box.Get familiar with OBS or Nvidia broadcast for more options, but works with windows 10 and 11 camera as well.I have it working at 1080p60 with my Sony a5100 as my webcam.

Cheap, simple, effective This does what it says on the tin. It's a cheap, effective and very simple little device and works without surprises. The only downside is that it comes with no capture software, but that's probably for the best since any bundled software would likely not be as good as real programs you can get for free. I use mine with OBS (Open Broadcaster Software), and OBS detected this device right out of the box and worked without surprises. If all you need is simple HDMI capture for regular SD or HD sources, it's hard to beat this for value.

Not the best, but great for IT professional I needed a way to connect to headless servers and this was a nice solution to connect it to my laptop for admin. There are times when I simply cannot ssh into a machine and I didn't like having to lug around a monitor for those specific cases. Now, I just hook up this dongle to the hdmi out of the server and then plug it in using USB 2.0 to my laptop. Like other suggestions, I'm using OBS studio. I tried VLC but didn't get great results. Anyway, it works good for my use case. 5 stars from me.
